Health & Wellness Launch

What is going to happen at the 3rd Space Healing Launch?
The 3rd Space Healing program will launch on Wednesday, September 28th from 6:30-8:30pm in ALP’s Manhattan office.  
*At the launch you will learn about different types of holistic healthcare! 
*Connect with the providers who will be offering thier services on upcoming Wellness days!   : 
*Have the opportunity to participate in a brief community Acupuncture and Reiki session.


What is a Wellness Day and what are the details? 
 *Wellness Days are a place where community members will be able to access a provider for a one-on-one holistic healthcare session or a community session.
*You can schedule an appointment at a Wellness Day or walk in!  212-463-0342 ext. 16
*The Wellness Days will be operating on a sliding scale basis and no one will be turned away due to lack of funds.
*Wellness Days will be happening on:
   - Thursday, October 13th.  6:30pm-8:30pm, ALP Manhatten location.
   - Saturday, November 12th. 1:00pm-4:00pm, ALP Brooklyn location.
   - Wednesday, December 14th. 6:30pm-8:30pm, ALP Manhatten location

How can I support this project?
*Make a one time donation or a monthly contribution of $5, $10, $20 ect. specifically for this area!  please put 3rd space in the memo line of you check or online donation. Your financial support helps provide free and low cost services to the ALP community!
*Share your skills!  Are you a health and provider? We're looking for folks who are providers to offer pro bono or sliding scale services to ALP community members on our Wellness Days.

The Lesbian Cancer Initiative presents an evening of pampering, health information, and health screenings for all lesbians, bisexual women and transgender community members. Come to learn more about health issues of concern to the LBT community, including the importance of risk reduction, early detection of breast cancer and other cancers. You'll also get vital info about prevention, wellness and recovery, as well as support services, community programs, insurance and healthcare options.

The Fair will feature:
* Information and workshops about relevant LBT health concerns
* Free massage and reiki treatments
* Snacks and refreshments
* Great door prizes and giveaways  
* and much more!

Nurturing Fall Transitions: An Introduction to the Healing Power of Reiki

What is Reiki? What can it be used for?
...The answers to these questions will be answered in this workshop. allisonjoy will guide participants through a brief history of his healing modality, explain the science behind the practice, and share the many ways Reiki can benefit health and well-being. We will also cover how to begin your own jouney into practising Reiki. In addition, workshop participants will have the opportunity to experience a short group session.

Dinner will be provided.

Kicked Out is an anthology of current and former homeless LGBTQ youth bringing attention to the epidemic of LGBTQ youth homelessness. This anthology introduced by Judy Shepard, gives voice to the voiceless and challenges the stereotypical face of homelessness.
