~Reiki For Survivors of Sexual Assault

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Designated as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), April brings an annual opportunity to focus awareness on sexual violence and its prevention. It is also an opportunity to highlight the efforts of individuals and agencies that provide rape crisis intervention and prevention services while offering support to sexual assault survivors, victims and their families. SAAM raises awareness of sexual violence and its prevention through special events while highlighting sexual violence as a major public health issue and reinforces the need for year-round prevention efforts.

Reiki is an especially loving act for people who are survivors of sexual assault, abuse, and other traumatic events. it helps to restore balance, peace for the mind & emotions, and assists in clearing away negative toxins/blockages that can build up in the body after violence. it's also the most non-evasive complimentary health practice, as patients are treated fully clothed, and practitioners do not need to physically touch clients, especially people who are not comfortable with touch or their bodies being handled. Client's comfortability is priority, and boundaries are lovingly respected. Here is a study that was done in Canada on the effects of Reiki for survivors of child abuse: http://www.tamarashouse.sk.ca/reiki.pdf

i will be offering free Reiki sessions at the University of DePaul in Chicago, IL for survivors in the middle of April. detailed information will be available in the upcoming posts, so please be sure to check back.
