...and welcome to my page.
Healing is not a luxury. It is absolutely necessary for us to grow, thrive, & manifest our most powerful visions of ourselves. We deserve to be healthy, to claim our strength & skills, and to gift ourselves the time, space, and resources to do so. The more connected we feel to all parts of ourselves (mentally, spiritually, emotionally, & physically), the more we can contribute to the evolution of ourselves, our work, the people and things we love, and our communities.
i believe that all indigenous cultures had some form of energy healing- an understanding that we all have the ability and responsibility to be involved in each others healing and growth. This, in turn, fostered collective action and strengthened communities. Passing energy to each other with positive intention, by touch or by wish, is the oldest form of healing we know.
Unfortunately, this knowledge has been lost along the way, and these days we are not taught to incorporate healing ritual and methods into our daily lives. Rather, they are seen as luxuries, or "special treats" that we gift ourselves or each other on rare occasions; birthdays, vacations, or once every few months when our bodies are burned out and we "really" need it.
But not only do we all really need it, we all deserve it. We all deserve to be in harmony with our emotions, to feel present and strong in our bodies, to have peace of mind, to feel empowered and confident with who we are and what we want to manifest for ourselves. We all deserve to create and nourish healthy relationships that allow us to acknowledge each others' Divine humanity.
So why don't we? Why do we constantly find ourselves stressed, exhausted, irritated, and unbalanced? The American Institute of Stress estimates that 75 to 90 percent of all visits to primary care physicians are for illnesses caused or made worse by stress. Included in that category are high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and heart disease. We are working more, and taking care of ourselves less. We are spending more time commuting and at our jobs than with our families and loved ones. We are pushing ourselves way beyond our physical and mental limits, and still demand more from our bodies and Spirits without allowing ourselves to relax, re-energize, release negative energy, center, or ground...And it affects us in every way; from our physical health to our emotional health, our decision making to our focus, our self-motivation to the way we treat the people we care about.
We are usually not taught to "listen" to our bodies, or to take time to check in with ourselves. We are not often taught the importance and necessity of self-care. We feel guilty for gifting ourselves with time and space for care when it is our right to claim and preserve our health. We are constantly giving of ourselves, but to give the best of ourselves requires that we exist whole and healthy.
One reason for this is that, especially within an American "first world" context, many healing methods and practices are not readily available to many communities. Worse yet, when and where they are available, these services are not affordable or accessible for most people, and we are lead to believe that they are reserved only for those who have monetary & class privilege.
i also believe that because of imperialism and colonization, many of our healing arts have been lost, erased, stolen, or commodified. Nowadays we hear about holistic healing practices as simply "trendy," or the "new fad." Different forms of meditation, yoga, acupuncture, healthy foods, etc are being promoted as the "next big thing." But there is nothing new about these modalities. They are ancient traditions, sacred in their power, passed down with patience, commitment, and compassion from healer to healer, and have been proven to enrich and nourish our lives on all levels, in all ways. People have been utilizing these forms of healing for centuries, and in order to truly appreciate their benefits, i believe it is important to welcome them into our lives, learn about and honor their origins & her/histories.
Namaste means:
I honor the place in you in which the entire Universe dwells.
i honor the place in you which is of Love,
of Integrity, of Wisdom, of Light, and of Peace.
When you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me,
We Are One.
The origin of healing is within its offering.
It is a sacred gift. A necessary one.
One i humbly, powerfully, & lovingly offer you.
